Call for Experience Reports to ACM CHIMIT'08
ACM CHIMIT'08 (Computer Human Interaction for Management of Information
Technology), November 14-15, 2008, San Diego
CHIMIT'08 is co-located with LISA, only 10 minutes from the LISA
conference center. If you will be there you should consider submitting
your experience...
CHIMIT 2008 will include a new experience report session to share insights
from actual practice. Accepted reports will be presented in a special
Experience Report Session, allowing authors to share and discuss their
experience with all symposium participants. This session is expected to be
highly interactive. Experience reports are non-archival. While reports
will not be published in the Symposium Proceedings and ACM Digital Library
they will be available on the Symposium web site, prior to the symposium
start date.
Preparation Guidelines
Please submit a 1-2 paragraph summary of an experience you can share from
the practice of IT management, involving some kind of interface between
people and technology.
Additionally, please submit brief answers to all of the following
questions:
When did the experience take place?
What was your personal role in the experience?
How many people were involved in or affected by the experience?
What was the financial or business impact of the experience?
What do you think is the top insight about human interfaces for IT
management from the experience?
What changes for you or your organization were motivated by this and/or
similar experiences?
We are interested in answers to these questions to evaluate the overall
contribution to the symposium of a discussion of the experience, not
because we are seeking only reports on major events or deep insights. A
problem successfully solved by a couple of sysadmins that illustrates some
issue of UI in management of a complex network is as relevant as a case
study of a failure with major impact but a simple root.
Presentations of accepted reports can include more details and discussion
than is included in the brief summary and answers submitted. We want to
encourage informal storytelling with lots of interaction during the
session.
Submission
Experience report submissions should be e-mailed to the Program Co-Chairs
(programchairs at chimit08.org). Only PDF version of reports is accepted. All
submissions must be received by the chairs by 5:00pm Pacific Time on July
14, 2008. Submissions received after this date/time will not be
considered.
All submissions will be acknowledged by e-mail.
Authors will be notified on August 18, 2008.
All questions regarding reports should be directed to Program Co-Chairs.
