Where to buy UPS batteries?

I just ordered some replacement UPS batteries from someone on ebay but
my wife reminded me that I can't (shouldn't) just throw out the old
batteries.

This really defeats the purpose of buying online if I still have to
*drive* somewhere. :)

What is the proper thing to do with old SLA batteries? Is there a
place on the peninsula where I can deposit them?
